Biography

Learned Persian (Afghan according to Stevens 1989, p. 151) in W.A. Wrote a protest letter about the shooting of SHAH NAWAZ, 1900. Lived in Perth, W.A., 1906. Contributed to costs of Perth mosque (Musakhan 1932, pp. 19-22). Represented MUHAMMAD HASSAN as agent in 1898 purchase of 230 camels from I.J.K. Cohn in W.A., for 5,980 pounds, and sued MUHAMMAD HASSAN successfully when commission of 10% (593 pounds) not paid. Deal was witnessed by YAR MUHAMMAD. MUHAMMAD HASSAN and YAR MUHAMMAD attempted to defraud ORMUZ D. SOOKHIA (West Australian, 18 Aug 1898 p.3; 23 Aug. 1898 p.7).
