Biography

Baluchi. Son of Mawlawi Moti'd Ghashni of Kandahar. Camel owner, hawker; worked in Mt Magnet, Murchison district, W.A., 1907 (Ayar MUHAMMAD papers, 1897-1907, State Library of W.A.; Rajkowski 1987, p. 94). Lived in William St, Perth, W.A., 1905-1906; then at Pt Hedland, W.A. Contributed to costs of Perth mosque (Musakhan 1932, pp. 19-22). Later became imam of the Perth mosque (Schinasi 1980, p. 24; Loois 1988; Stevens 1989). Was at Perth mosque In 1914 when he assisted NOORAM SHAH's application to reenter Australia (Ext Affairs docket 11659/1915, with photographs, National Archives, Canberra).
