Madigan Simpson Desert Expedition, 1939

During mid 1939 geologist Cecil Madigan mounted a large scientific expedition to investigate the sand-dune system of the Simpson Desert, its zoology and botany. Jack (Abdul) Bejah and Nur Mahommed Moosha managed the 19 camels carrying the expedition members, equipment and specimens. The camels were supplied by Jack’s father, Bejah Dervish, veteran of the Calvert Exploring Expedition.
